Q: Will being nervous effect the results of my polygraph?
A: No, nearly everyone is nervous when they take a polygraph. Feeling nervous will not alter your results. We take as much time as necessary during the pre-test interview to help you feel comfortable and prepared for the exam.
Q: Will the examiner ask me surprise questions?
A: Never. We go over every question with you during the pre-test interview. There are never any surprises and we ensure that you have a clear understanding of of every question to be asked.
Q: Can I "beat" the polygraph?
A: You never "beat" a polygraph. In certain instances you may be able to fool the examiner but a well trained and experienced polygraph examiner is skilled at recognizing countermeasures. We have access to the same anti-polygraph websites as the general public. In most cases countermeasures are obvious to the examiner and will result in a failed test.
Q: Can I take a polygraph if I am pregnant?
A: The short answer is no. Under most circumstances VPS will not administer a polygraph to a pregnant person.
Q: How long does it take?
A: Polygraphs take a minimum of 90 minutes. This includes the pre-test interview, the time in testing, and the post-test interview.
Q: Are polygraphs reliable?
A: Yes! As with most things in life there is a failure rate, however, an experienced examiner who uses validated techniques is capable of producing results that you can rely upon. Polygraphs are used by police and governmental agencies because they obtain accurate results. There are unethical and poorly trained examiners who take shortcuts or utilize faulty testing methods and their results will not be accurate. Veritas Polygraph Services takes every measure to ensure your exam is of the highest quality. We understand that you chose us at a time in your life where you are seeking answers. Polygraph results can have a huge impact both professionally and personally. We take pride in giving you the highest quality service.
